Jamie Watson

is a novelist, philosopher, and clinical ethicist with a deep interest in storytelling from the American South. He grew up on thirteen acres of deep ravines and tall ridges in rural Appalachia, where he hunted cryptids and fought with monsters spun from imagination and fiery Tennessee pulpits.

His early passion for writing led him quickly to esoteric topics, and after pursuing degrees in religion and philosophy and writing several academic books, he turned his efforts to fiction. Drawing heavily on his experiences living in Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Arkansas, Watson weaves close psychological perspectives, tight plots, and vibrant characters with themes of fate, religion, and purpose. Jamie now lives in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, bioethicist Laura Guidry-Grimes, and two dogs, Sherlock and Cuillin.

Jimmy Rex: Recasting Oedipus in the American South, a popular professor from Nashville meets with a tragedy of his own design and is cast into homelessness and shame until offered a redemption that requires him to face the darkest parts of his rural Appalachian childhood.

In the House of Dagon: At the end of a dispiriting career, the son of an ex-preacher and a Jewish mother discovers he has supernatural abilities to stop crime, rescue the helpless, and thwart tragedy—but only when no one else can see. When an accident turns the world’s hostile eyes on his new sense of purpose, questions of what is real and what is imaginary prove less important than what makes a meaningful life.

He is seeking representation for two novels:
